Hotel Will Unfold in the New Year

When the massive cloak covering the scaffolding that surrounds the old Pearl Assurance building is unveiled at the end of the year it will reveal a brand-new city hotel for Glasgow . The new Rezidor-Cerutti facility at the corner of West George Street and Renfield Street is a concept-type hotel that will seek up-market clientele.

The listed building is being carefully refurbished and will have 87 bedrooms when it is completed. The Dunfermline Building Society is financing the project, which is expected to cost around £7m, and keeping an eye on things for them are CRGP who are acting as project monitors.

“The procurement route being taken on this job is by way of a construction management team, which in this case is Heery International,” says Bob Turnbull, a director of CRGP. “It is similar to the route taken when the Scottish Parliament was being built but it is much more suited to projects of this size and nature. All the pre-planning was also done before the construction manager was appointed to avoid any escalation in cost.”
