Works Commence on Isle of Luing

The ‘Atlantic Islands Centre’ new build project will provide the local community with an exceptional community hub as well as a heritage, cultural, business and a social facility for use by islanders and visitors.

When complete, the building will cater for a variety of functions and activities and include heritage, exhibition/events, and work spaces as well as a café-restaurant.

Works are being funded with a substantial grant from The Big Lottery Fund in addition to other monies from ERDF, Highland and Islands Enterprise, the Climate Challenge Fund and Bord na Gaidhlig.

In order to provide an energy efficient and low maintenance building, various enhancements to the specification have been incoporated including increased insulation levels, high performance windows, underfloor heating and a water source heat pump system that is fed from the nearby former quarry.

CRGP are providing QS services to the Isle  of Luing Community Trust and works are being carried out by MacLeod Construction.
