Project Description

The restoration and re-invigoration of an existing 19th Century Grade ‘B’ listed building to create 2 floors of High Spec’ Office accommodation, secure basement car parking and 2 penthouse flats.

Our brief was to bring a dying building back to life and create an eye-catching architectural feature, combining classic and contemporary styles, within a city centre region of Glasgow currently undergoing major redevelopment.

The Client wanted to create a unique office and showroom, a modern space internally that met the demands of a 21st Century Office environment, whilst sympathetically restoring the exterior of the building to its former glory. The Client’s love of the City of Barcelona was expressed by the insertion of an inverse Bust in the Main facade sculpted by the Catalan artist Josep Maria Subirachs who is responsible for work on Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. The Building was subsequently named ‘The Subirachs Building’.

CRGP’s architects and quantity surveyors brought their wealth of experience in converting and renovating existing buildings to the development along with an ability to keep costs under control on a complex building project.

CRGP Ltd succeeded in saving a building close to demolition, creating functional and comfortable office and residential space, whilst maintaining the original building character and features.
