Project Description

Sympathetic and sensitive water ingress repairs to Mellerstain , one of Scotland’s great Georgian houses. Located in the Scottish Borders, Mellerstain was designed by Architect, William Adam and completed in 1778 by his son, Robert Adam.

Heavy, prolonged and wind-driven rainfall entered the property, damaging two bedrooms and the stunning Music Room and Drawing Rooms below.

Careful strip-out, controlled drying and treatment prior to reinstatement works progressing, which included new lime plaster, silk wall coverings, and repainting of the highly decorative Music Room and Drawing Room ceilings.

Mellerstain is open to the public Fridays to Mondays from April to September, and is very worthy of a visit, not just for the stunning architecture and furnishings but the immaculately kept gardens, and of course the Hoebridge coffee shop! click here to visit Mellerstain’s website
