Challenge Raises £2,500

The team “7 heavenly virtues” in fact turned into six on the day, however, the intrepid half-dozen exhibited a fair share of fortitude, faith and hope as they observed justice, temperance and prudence in their quest to raise money for charity. The six, all from architect companies in Glasgow recently took part in the 24-hour Speyside Challenge. This exercise is more military than casual as it involves covering the 50 miles between Boat of Garten to Spey Bay in one day. It was, of course, done for a good cause and in this case it was to raise funds for the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice in Glasgow. This facility cares for patients who have a terminal illness and it also provides support for their families and those who care for them. All the hospice services are free, regardless of patients’ circumstances, but it takes some £3m each year to fund and £2m of that comes from donations.

Alex Temple of Cooper Cromar and Richard Thomson of Capita Percy Thomas (and both previously of CRGP) received gold medals for finishing the course. Picking up silver for completing 40 miles were Gareth Merser of CRGP, Elizabeth Ramage-Bannatyne and Adam McGhee of Capita Percy Thomas. A bronze medal was awarded to Graham White of Capita Percy Thomas for completing 30 miles.

Perhaps more important was that the Speyside Six raised more than £2500 for the hospice.
