CRGP Win Top Defence Award

CRGP’s architectural projects dominated the prestigious 2009 Bovis Lend Lease Defence Awards. With shortlisted nominations for buildings in various categories including ‘Incident and Injury Free’ and ‘Design Innovation’, the overall ‘Project of the Year’ award fell to the much acclaimed Richmondshire Lines Junior Ranks Mess Facility.

Completed in summer 2009, the Mess facility, now officially titled the Richmond Centre, is a single storey building with integrated catering, retail and leisure facilities, serving the requirements and needs of some 2000 troops of the 4th Mechanized Brigade, the “Black Rats”. The project is the final component of the master plan conceived by CRGP for Richmondshire Lines and part of the ongoing programme to Catterick as the UK’s largest Army base and Supergarrison.

CRGP are integral to the development of this Garrison town, providing architectural services for Phase 2 of the £1 Billion, UK wide Prime Contract, Project SLAM. This framework involves the replacement of existing low standard service personnel single living accommodation, as well as ancillary facilities such as Mess, leisure and retail outlets.

CRGP pride themselves as one of the leading architectural practices in the UK undertaking defence works.

This award recognises the outstanding design contribution the building has made to the Defence estate and the efforts of the whole team involved ensuring the successful delivery of the project.
