Waterloo Street / Wellington Street, Glasgow

Plans have been drawn up for the reinstatement of the buildings at the corner of Waterloo Street and Wellington Street, Glasgow. Fire spread through the properties last October but the four-storey building could not be saved and was consequently demolished. Archies Bar and the Robbie Burns Tavern were landmark pubs that once occupied the space.

The Glasgow-based company, CRGP Ltd has been appointed as architects and surveyors and plans will be submitted in September with a projected start date of construction in early 2007. Colin Dair, a director of CRGP says: “We have instructed Keppie Design to apply for the planning permission but we will be attending to the architecture, project management and surveying. Our clients are the eight co-proprietors of the property. There will be a pub in the basement and ground floor and a retail unit on the corner. The four floors above each have an area of 5000sq ft.”
