What a Load of Rubbish

Recently the RICS matrics, West Region had the pleasure of attending a presentation and tour at Malcolm Construction Service’s recycling facility in Glasgow.

Malcolm Construction Services, part of the Malcolm Group opened the new recycling facility in October 2006 in a former shipyard off South Street. The plant incorporates a materials separation line, recycling aggregate processing plant and associated mobile equipment. The visit was attended by 18 matrics members and the West Region also welcomed along matrics Chairman for Scotland, Michael Jones, who commented whilst ankle deep in mud, “This is proper CPD!”.

The presentation and tour was organised by Malcolm Construction Service’s Environmental Manager, David Balmer.

Frank Malcolm, Associate Building Surveyor with CRGP and the RICS matrics, West Region Chairman, thanked the Malcolm Group for their time and hospitality, commenting; “It is great to get an informative insight into Waste Management. We are all aware of the many skips that leave our sites and David has highlighted firstly, the unnecessary waste and secondly how Malcolms can re-use the waste and avoid needless landfill. I think it was an eye-opener for all members who attended”.
