Project Description
The main objective of the works undertaken at Normandy Barracks was to replace the temporary accommodation buildings, the initial feasibility study consisted of a detailed master planning exercise of the overall Barracks to include approx 1400 trainee bed spaces along with an Officers Mess and Officers accommodation. The first phase of works completed included the construction of 768 bed spaces over four blocks which allowed the temporary accommodation to be demolished. Each new building will provide 4 bed dormitories, with space for each occupant to sleep and study along with this there is shared ablution areas and common rooms with kitchen facilities. The building’s are located around the existing recreational facilities, creating a campus environment for the trainees. The new build blocks will replace some of the worst Grade 4 accommodation within the armed forces with grade 1 accommodation.
