Project Description
The Cheeseman Centre will provide dining facilities for over 600 Junior Rank Officers housed in the adjacent twelve accommodation blocks. The mess will also provide games areas, bar & snack facilities, television rooms, reading rooms, a retail shop and a hairdressers. The mess operates on a ‘Pay as You Dine’ concept and is an integration of Catering, Retail and Leisure functions under the one roof. The main dining area is designed to provide flexibility for the users and operators, this assisting with surge feeding while avoiding a large vacant space. An external terraced area is provided as a ‘spill out’ from the coffee bar, dining and retail areas. The mess sits within the heart of the twelve new accommodation blocks and completes the master plan on the WWI airfield. Aerial photo credit – CPL Ian Forsyth RLC
